Marie Knapp, 89, of Danville peacefully went to be with her Lord at 10:20 p.m. July 4, 2009.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams St. in Danville with Pastor Doug Knapp officiating. Visitation: 12:30-1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pape’s.
Marie was born March 12, 1920, in Westville to Raoul “Ralph” August and Yvonne Renee Leglaud Champomier. At the age of 5, she moved to Mont Lucon, France, and returned to Westville at the age of 12. Upon her return, she worked for a Danville VA doctor.
Marie had been a member of Four Square Gospel Church, where she married Clarence Dale Knapp on March 30, 1940, and he preceded her on May 29, 1992.
Survivors include a daughter: Judith (Jerry) Harper of Danville; three sons, Dale Knapp and John Knapp of Danville and Michael Knapp of Champaign; 10 grandchildren, Jerry (Jane) Harper Jr., Catherine Harper, Brian (Andrea) Harper, David (Tammy) Harper, Christian (Michelle) Harper, Dale (Chastity) Knapp Jr., Joseph Knapp, Amanda (Tim) Cole, Amie (Tim) Evans and John (Annie) Knapp Jr.; 18 great-grandchildren; and many close friends and good neighbors.
She was preceded by her parents; her husband; two sons, Clarence Dale Jr. and David Lee; three sisters, Rose Riggle, Marguerite Newnum and Yvonne Coonse; and two brothers, George and Ralph Champomier.
