June Spickard

GRAPE CREEK — June Spickard, 87, of Grape Creek passed away on Wednesday July 1, 2009, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on June 14, 1922, in Sullivan, Ind., the daughter of Nelson and Trella Padgett. She married Walter Spickard on July 12, 1941, in Grape Creek. He preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1993.

Survivors include her son, Leslie (Mimi) Spickard of Arlington Heights; her daughter, Sara Spickard of Grape Creek; grandchildren, Shawn (Mary) Spickard of Hamlet, Ind., and Scott (Christi) Spickard of Laporte, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Tyler; two sisters, Carole Gondry of Bradenton, Fla., and Ruth Del Valley of Veedersburg, Ind.; many nieces and nephews, and two pets, Angel and Callie. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Ermel Padgett, and three sisters, Doris Spickard, Gwenola Howard, and Joann Stitt.

June was a member of Grape Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed doing word searches and writing in her journal.

A celebration of June’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday July 6, 2009 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel in Westville. Pastor David Leary will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday July 5, 2009 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
