Guy Malone Jr.
Guy Malone Jr., 91, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Danville passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at his home.
He was born June 25, 1918, in Danville, to Guy and Alice Weatherhill Malone Sr. Guy married Mildred Morris on Feb. 10, 1946, in Danville. Mildred survives as well as two daughters: Sandi (Gary) Sulander of Tulsa, Okla. and Janie (Bruce) Nelson of Cape Coral, Fla.; five grandchildren: Stacy (Adrian) Berryhill, Shannon Sulander, Angie (Aaron) Kilian, Stephanie (Brock) Tallent and Damon (Jennifer) Palmer; nine great-grandchildren: Brittany, Daniel, Tanner, Christian, Tristan, Adrian, Dillon, Nicholas and Braxton. He was preceded by three sisters and one brother.
Guy served under Gen. George Patton from 1941 to 1945, was in the European African Middle East Campaign, and was with the 853rd Ordnance in Patton’s Third Army stationed in Normandy, France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the distinguished and honorable Silver Star in lieu of five bronze stars. A former member of The Rock Church in Danville, he was presently a member of the Assembly of God Church in Fort Myers, Fla. He was a longtime contractor and custom home builder.
Funeral services 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, at Robison Chapel in Catlin. Burial with military honors at Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville. Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Robison Chapel in Catlin. Online condolences at www.robisonchapel.com.
