Hester Florina Thompson

Hester Florina Thompson, 71, of Georgetown, passed away at 9:44 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008, at her home. She was born Jan. 29, 1937, in Cayuga, Ind., the daughter of James and Sarah Martha (Adams) Priest, both deceased.

On June 6, 1953, in Cayuga, Hester married Leroy “Sixty” Thompson, who will miss her very much. She will also be missed by: her children, Michael (Cindy) Thompson of Ridge Farm, Aloysius (Dixie) Thompson of Clarks Hill, Ind., Daniel “Dingo” (Michellee) Thompson of Cayuga, Thomas (Karen) Thompson of Georgetown, Claudia (Rick Adkisson) McCool of Georgetown and Florence Thompson of Georgetown; her 17 grandchildren; her 25 great-grandchildren; her one great-great-grandchild; her sisters, Anna Shannon of Georgetown, Letha Fitzwater of Georgetown, Martha Smith of Georgetown, Mary Hinkle of Covington, Ind., Betty Priest of Georgetown and Shirley (Marty) Mullen of Westville; and her several nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her special friends: Dean and Diane Dawson of Georgetown, Teresa Lack Vandewalker of Georgetown, and Virginia Howard of Olivet. Hester was preceded in death by her son, James Fred Thomp son; three grandchildren; five brothers; and five sisters.

Hester enjoyed quilting, swimming, singing, feeding the wildlife, mushroom hunting, and being outdoors. She really enjoyed gardening. She also collected angels and dolls. Hester cherished her family and friends and loved spending time with them.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Sunset’s Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West St. in Georgetown. Pastor Leon Korb will officiate. Visitation will be held noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. As per her wishes, Hester was cremated. Following the service, a celebration of Hester’s life will be held with a potluck dinner for family and friends at the American Legion Dornblaser Post 203.
