Mavis Lorean Dillon Winters
Mavis Lorean Dillon Winters, 59, of Marion, formerly of Danville, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008, at her home in Marion.
Mavis was born on Aug. 1, 1948, in Scuddy, Ky., the daughter of Leroy and Thelma (Brown) Dillon. She is survived by her son, Curtis (Dawn) Moore of Danville; two daughters, Melissa (Bradley) Hoover of Danville and Violet Marie (Steven) Lomax of Oakwood; six brothers, James (Kathy) Dillon of Danville, Joe (Dorothy) Dillon of Danville, Jerry (Kelly) Dillon of Danville, Delmar Dillon of Rossville, Ira (Lori) Dillon of Danville and Ronald Lee (Lenore) Dillon of Danville; three sisters, Monica Andrews of Danville, Luella (Stanley) Cramer of Oakwood and Ethel (David) Barnes of Marion, Ill.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Mavis spent most of her life taking care of other people. She owned and operated an elderly care home for 18 years, taking care of the elderly and veterans.
She enjoyed helping other people, playing bingo, going to the riverboat, cooking and spending time with her family. She loved her two dogs, Princess and Tiny.
A celebration of the life of Mavis Lorean Dillon Winters will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Visitation will be from 9-10: a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery following the service.
