Corrine Inez Lipscomb Nelson

Corrine Inez Lipscomb Nelson, 68, of Danville, formerly of Milwaukee Wis., passed this life at 4:05 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 16, 1940, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Willie and Lena Byrd Lipscomb. Corrine was formerly married to LC Nelson, Jr. They married on June 20, 1970. He preceded her.

Corrine received her Practical Nurses License in April 1977. She passed the LPN exam with a score of 402.0. Ms. Nelson worked as an L.P.N. for various hospitals and nursing homes in Danville and Milwaukee.

Corrine was a member of Greater Works Ministry of Danville, where she was the church mother.

Her hobbies were crocheting, painting, ceramics, reading, sewing, collecting dolls and donating them to various charities, cooking and spending time with her children.

Corrine leaves to cherish her memory her children: Kimberly (Derrick) Lipscomb, Aline Nelson Davis and Debra Nelson, all of Danville, Ernest (Sherry) Paige of Lafayette Ind., Victoria Paige Holmes, Dominic Nelson, Pamela (Kenya) Harris, Toni Tyler Drain, Tamera Tyler and Clay Tyler, all of Milwaukee Wis.; six sisters: Lavern Lipscomb, Bessie (Smith) Gandy, Bellzora Gandy, Eolla (Hollman) Gandy, Esther (Greer) Gandy and Constance Byrd; six brothers: Albert Gandy, Jr., Willie Lipscomb, Chester Gandy, George Gandy, Marcell Gandy and Gus Gandy; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She also was preceded by her parents, stepfather Albert Gandy, a son, Dion Lamont Nelson, two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at noon, Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Visitation: 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Viewing will be 1-5 p.m., Monday, May 12, 2008, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St. Officiating: Pastor Bobby Keys. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the family of Corrine Nelson: 921 Timberline Drive, Danville IL, 61832.
