Betty J. Ruble

GEORGETOWN — Betty J. Ruble, 72, of Georgetown, passed away at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.

She was born Sept. 15, 1935, in Alabama, to M. Woodrow and Ruth (Caldwell) Murphy, both deceased.

She will be dearly missed by: her children, William D. Ruble of Georgetown, Marla (Mike Lesko) Ruble of Georgetown and Jeanie Swalls of Terre Haute, Ind.; her two grandchildren, Katee Ruble and Wylee Ruble, both of Georgetown; her siblings, Marshal W. (Dorothy) Murphy of Brocton, Tom (Marty) Murphy of Phoenix, Ariz., Lorraine Harbarger of Chrisman and Wilma Tibbs of Georgetown; as well as, her special friends, Jan Davis, Maggie Nale and Kala Winland of Georgetown. Her dog, Stolli, whom she adored, will also miss her. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Susan Ruble.

Betty retired from General Motors. She was a wonderful cook and her kitchen was always open to friends. She enjoyed tending her flowers, gardening, working crossword puzzles and chatting with her neighbors. She was a wonderful Mother and showed that she loved her children dearly. To know Betty was to love her.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Sunset’s Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West St. in Georgetown. Pastor James Blue will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in her name to: Danville Humane Society.
