Ross Padgett
CATLIN —
Ross Padgett, 96, well known Catlin resident, longtime milk distributor, passed away at 4:38 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Marshall County Hospital in Benton, Ky.
Ross was born July 2, 1911, in Coal City, Ind., to Edd and Jenny Reagan Padgett. He married Pauline Lindley Dec. 21, 1933, in Danville. She passed away April 2, 1960. He later married Dorothy Manning. She passed away Nov. 29, 2004. Survivors include: two daughters, Joan (Terry) McGarigle of Gilbertsville, Ky., and Karen (Dean) Liggett also of Gilbertsville, Ky.; one stepdaughter, Shirley Trignero of Caballo, N.M.; one sister, Margaret Holland of Westville; five grandchildren, four step grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two stepgreat-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Ross was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Ross was a milk distributor for over 50 years, 11 of those with Meadow Gold Company. He was a member of the Catlin Church of Christ, Christian Men’s Builder Class and had served as an elder and deacon in the church. He was a member of the Catlin Lions Club, served on the board of the Illini Children’s Home, member of Catlin Historical Society and had served on the Catlin Township Cemetery Board. He wintered in Florida for 27 years. He also attended the Aurora Christian Church in Benton, Ky. Ross had spent the last few years at Stilley House assisted living in Benton, Ky.
Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Catlin Church of Christ, Dave Burger officiating; Burial: Oakridge Cemetery in Catlin; Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Robison Chapel in Catlin. Memorials in Ross’ memory to the Catlin Church of Christ or Catlin Historical Society in care of Robison Chapel.
