The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee is now accepting applications for the MLK Scholarship. The committee will host an informational meeting regarding requirements for the scholarship application from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Vermilion Place, 14 N. Hazel St.
This meeting is for school counselors, organizations/social agencies, parents and 2013 graduating seniors who attend a high school in Danville.
To be eligible for the $4,000 scholarship, applicants must be a 2013 high school graduating senior who plans to pursue his or her education at an institution of higher learning. Applications are available at local churches, high schools and the city of Danville Human Relations Department.
The selection of the scholarship recipient is not based on any racial, religious, ethnic or cultural affiliation. All applications must be submitted to the city of Danville Human Relations Department by 4:30 p.m. Dec. 7. The recipient will be announced at the MLK Celebration Banquet in January.
