A communications studies professor will present his documentary “Walls of Sound: A Look Inside the House of Records,” a “fiercely-independent” record store based in Eugene, Ore., beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the first floor meeting room at the Danville Public Library, 319 N. Vermilion St.
This program is part of Eastern Illinois University’s “America’s Music” series.
Dr. David Gracon is a professor at EIU. His film explores how the House of Records has survived since opening in 1972. Greg Wilson, owner of Chart Records, 131 N. Vermilion St., Danville, will join the discussion and share his views on the industry.
Gracon’s documentary combines interviews with the owner, employees and various customers of the House of Records. Their stories and observations are often imbued with a quirky sense of humor, biting intelligence and a deep admiration for the store and its culture.
