Flames destroyed a home located between Westville and Georgetown on Wednesday afternoon.
Firefighters from four departments — Georgetown, Catlin, Ridge Farm and Westville — converged on the home at 15874 First St., just south of Clingan Lane, when the fire was reported around noon Wednesday.
Georgetown Assistant Fire Chief Darrel Starwalt said the front of the home around the living room area was fully involved when the departments arrived on the scene, with flames slowly moving toward the back of the single-story home.
A car and pickup truck parked in front also were damaged in the blaze.
The cause is undetermined at this point, but Starwalt said the fire is considered accidental. The home is considered a complete loss.
One person was home at the time and she escaped without injury. A dog could not be coaxed from inside the home and died.
