School board petitions available

DANVILLE — Candidates for the District 118 Board of Education may pick up nominating petitions and other applicable documents in the superintendent’s office at 516 N. Jackson St.

The filing period for nominating petitions began Dec. 17 and ends at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Petitions are to be filed with the secretary to the Board of Education in the superintendent’s office. Candidates’ names will appear on the election ballot in the order in which their nominating papers are received.

Office hours for the superintendent’s office during the filing period and objection period are: 10 a.m. to noon today and Friday; 3-5 p.m. Dec. 26; 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 27, 28 and Dec. 31; 8 a.m. to noon Jan. 2, with a lottery drawing at 10 a.m.; and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 3.

  • Police investigate shooting report

    DANVILLE — City police investigated reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of Moore Street about 6:30 p.m.

    Preliminary reports had as many as three people with gunshot wounds. Ambulances were called to assist two of the people with wounds to the leg and one with a chest wound.

    The investigation continued Friday evening.
