Woman dies in accident

FAIRMOUNT — Police still are investigating a single-vehicle accident that killed a female on Saturday.

According to the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred at 12:47 p.m. a half mile east of 600 East Road on 1100 North Road near the Fairmount quarry.

A female was driving a 1995 Oldsmobile eastbound on 1100 North Road when it appears she lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle went off the north side of the road and overturned in a bean field, according to Capt. Dennis Wood with the sheriff’s department.

The female adult driver was deceased at the scene, Wood said.

No other information was being released by the sheriff’s department or Vermilion County Coroner’s Office about the victim, pending notification of family members.

A minor male passenger, who called 911 to report the accident, was transported to Presence United Samaritans Medical Center. He reportedly received minor injuries.

Wood said a passing motorist also assisted at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
