National Sweetcorn Festival Schedule

HOOPESTON — The National Sweetcorn Festival is sponsored by the Hoopeston Jaycees. Activities take place at McFerren Park.

Today

8 a.m. — Flea market opens

9 a.m. — Gates open

11 a.m. — Children’s Fishing Derby sign-up

Noon — Midway opens; bracelet all day; display area opens; petting zoo, pony rides open

Noon — Children’s Fishing Derby

Noon-4 p.m. — Free sweet corn

1, 3 and 5 p.m. — Rob Thompson Magic Show at Jaycee Shelter; raffle in Legion Shelter

1:15 -2:15 p.m. — National Sweetheart Pageant autograph session in Civic Center

2-3:30 p.m. — Groove Catz on west side near the lagoon

3 and 5 p.m. — Rob Thompson Magic Show (Jaycee Shelter)

6:30 p.m. — National Sweetheart Pageant finals

7:30 p.m. — Demo Derby II at Annex

Monday

8 a.m. — Flea Market opens

9 a.m. — Gates open, $2 admission; display area opens; Cream of the Crop Pretty Baby Contest registration at Civic Center

10 a.m. — Cream of the Crop Pretty Baby Contest at Civic Center

WESTVILLE — The Lions Club will sponsor the 103rd Labor Day Festival in Zamberletti Park.

Noon-10 p.m. — Carnival and vendors open

Noon-5 p.m. — Youth football games at home

4-7 p.m. — Somethin’ D’Frent DJ at St. Mary’s

4-10 p.m. — Margaritaville at St. Mary’s

5-9 p.m. — Lions Club raffle in the pavilion

7-10 p.m. — Tons of Fun Band at St. Mary’s

8:30 p.m. — Fireworks display at the high school

Monday

9 a.m. — Parade float contest at Judith Giacoma School

11:30 p.m. — Labor Day parade kicks off

1 p.m. — Cake Walk on the tennis court until cakes are gone

1-7 p.m. — Carnival and vendors open

1-7 p.m. — Lions Club raffle in the pavilion

Noon-8 p.m. — Hog roast at St. Mary’s

2 p.m. — Vintage baseball game featuring the Vermilion Voles at the junior high
