DANVILLE — City police arrested a man in connection with an early morning gas station robbery on Danville’s east side.
Deangelo Washington, 27, of Danville, was taken into custody soon after the robbery reported just before 4:30 a.m. Saturday at Casey’s General Store, 2101 E. Main St.
Danville Police Sgt. Josh Campbell said Washington entered the business and implied he had a handgun, although one was never shown during the robbery.
The attendant on duty handed over an undisclosed amount of money to Washington, who ordered the worker to the back of the business. No injuries were reported.
Campbell said Washington then fled on foot from the scene before being arrested. Some of the money stolen in the robbery was recovered.
Washington was booked at 5:40 a.m. Saturday at the Public Safety Building jail on charges of armed robbery, theft, battery and unlawful restraint.
During court proceedings Monday, Washington was charged with aggravated robbery and theft. His bond is set at $50,000.
