WESTVILLE — Village trustees approved sending a property at 1603 Danville Str. into foreclosure in an effort to gain control of the property.

The property has long been an eyesore in the community and village leaders are tired of the ongoing legal wrangling with the out-of-state owner. The village has liens against the property for unpaid gas and water bills from former tenants and has filed liens for mowing the property for some time now.

Once the village has ownership of the property it will demolish the dilapidated house on the property and put the property up for sale.

In other council action, trustees:

+ Approved a request by the Westville Lions Club to have its Fall Frenzy in Zamberletti Park on Oct. 26.

+ Set trick or treat hours for Halloween to be from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

+ Learned the park will close for the year on Oct. 28.

Village council members will next meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 in the municipal building.
