OGDEN — An Indiana man has been identified as the semi driver killed in an early morning accident along Interstate 74.
A snow plow driver for the Illinois Department of Transportation discovered the crash around 12:45 a.m. Saturday off of the interstate’s westbound lanes near mile marker 195. The driver spotted the lights from the truck.
Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup identified the driver Saturday evening as William Webb, 59, of Alexandria, Ind. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
According to the state police, the semi tractor-trailer was off the right side of the road past the perimeter fence and through a tree line. It came to rest partially submerged in a pond and took several hours to remove from the water.
