Four arrested after shooting incident Sunday

DANVILLE — Four people were taken into custody on the Interstate following a shooting incident in Danville during the weekend.

City police responded to a report of shots fired around 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Koehn Drive.

Police Sgt. Joshua Campbell said a man was at the home when several shots were fired from outside. The victim suffered a slight injury and was taken to Presence United Samaritans Medical Center for treatment.

Witnesses at the scene provided a description of a vehicle, which was pulled over by Tilton police and deputies with the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department in the westbound lane of Interstate 74 at the 206 mile marker, Campbell said.

Four men — two 24-year-olds from Danville, a 19-year-old from Urbana and a 20-year-old from Champaign — were taken into custody and booked on preliminary charges of aggravated battery with a firearm. Bond was not immediately set for any of the men.

The shooting incident remains under investigation, Campbell said.
