Ghost rally raises money for team

DANVILLE — American Legion Post 210 baseball players hope to scare up money for the teams this Halloween with a ghost rally.

The ghost rally is scheduled for Friday and Saturday and costs $20 per carload, according to co-coordinator Bob Jurczak. The first car will leave from the American Legion Pony League Diamond each day at 6:30 p.m.

This is the first year for the event. Participants are asked to show up a little before the starting time.

Adam Decker, co-coordinator of the event, said funds raised by the ghost rally will go to the Post 210 baseball budget for the teams. He said they are expecting a senior team, two junior teams, a 14 and under team and a 13 and under team next year.

For the ghost rally, people will follow a story and trail, taking them through 15-18 stops in and around the Danville area, Jurczak said. Clues will point them in new directions along the 32-mile travel, which winds around spots including Henning Road and Ellsworth Park before ending at the American Legion.

A bonfire at the Legion will end the evening both nights.
