Gallery to open new exhibit

DANVILLE — The Alley Gallery is showing off a new exhibit, “Ethereal Enigmas” starting Thursday through Aug. 25.

The public is invited to an opening reception for the artists from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the studio, 113 N. Vermilion St., within the offices of Crose Insurance, the former Mosser’s building.

The exhibit features two artists’ works — abstract, highly-textured paintings by Hayley Sutton, formerly of Rossville, now working in San Francisco; and ceramic vessels by Native American Louis Ballard. Ballard is an instructor in the Art Department of Danville Area Community College as well as Parkland College.

Gallery hours are noon-4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays or by appointment. For information, call curator David Nolan at 497-2286. Admission is free and open to all.
