Jimmy John’s returns to Danville


DANVILLE — Jimmy John’s is returning to Danville.

A lease is not yet complete, but it should be signed within the next week or so, according to Jimmy John’s owner/general manager Seth Hobbs.

The sandwich shop will open in Plaza 31, at 3100 N. Vermilion St., across from the mall in the Heartland Properties building that is being remodeled to also include second floors.

The building includes the new hair salon Salon 31, University of Illinois Extension office, Jackson Hewitt and other businesses and office space.

Jimmy John’s would be located on the south side of the building, with a drive-through.

“We are probably looking at the end of April, beginning of May for opening. I will be hiring around 35 employees and will probably start taking applications five to six weeks before opening,” Hobbs said in an e-mail.

The fast food restaurant will have about 32 seats, all indoors, and it will most likely be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

It was announced on Jimmy John’s Facebook page that it is looking for “rockstar assistant managers at the Danville, Ill., location opening soon.”

The Facebook post reads: “A Chief Sandwich Maker and Motivator of People responsible for the effective execution of fast, accurate orders and exceptional customer service is what we need. We offer exceptional growth potential and share the profits. Do you have the need to lead others to success and the ability to tell it like it is?”

More than 10 years ago the fast-food gourmet sandwich shop was previously located in Danville on North Gilbert Street.

According to its website, Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shops offer homemade sandwiches made from fresh-baked bread, all-natural meats and vegetables that are sliced daily at each restaurant.

Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shops was founded in 1983 by 19-year-old Jimmy John Liautaud in a converted garage in Charleston, Ill.

In 23 years, the company has grown to more than 445 corporate and franchised locations in more than 34 states and two countries. The company is known for its obsession with fresh, quality products and high-speed execution.
