The Danville Area Community College board of trustees on Tuesday will consider whether to move forward with a list of equipment purchases for the 2014 fiscal year.
“Every year we put together a list of equipment that has been approved by the division heads,” Dave Kietzmann, vice president of Instruction and Student Services, said.
“If the board gives us the authorization, we’ll go out for bid,” he added.
The equipment, which totals an estimated $992,543, includes more than just computers.
“There is welding equipment, nursing mannequins . . . anything that supports students and student learning,” Kietzmann said.
Some of the equipment will be paid for with about $400,000 from a $1 million technology bond the college sold in December, according to Kietzmann.
In other business on Tuesday, the trustees will:
- Consider a resolution ascertaining prevailing wages.
- Consider the purchase and installation of furniture for the DACC Hoopeston Higher Learning Center. The low bidder was Hendricksen of Peoria at $39,675 to furnish two classrooms, one computer lab, one office and one reception area.
“We’re looking forward to opening the Hoopeston facility this fall,” Kietzmann said.
- Consider bids for the purchase of computer equipment. Kietzmann said the college anticipates spending about $115,549 for 123 desktop computers and 17 laptop computers for the Danville campus and the Hoopeston facility.
- Consider appointing an underwriter for college bonds.
