Here’s a look at recent law enforcement calls:

Incidents reported to police include:



Criminal damage to property in the 200 block of Grace Street.

Criminal damage to auto in the 1600 block of Oak Street.


Domestic battery in the 1900 block of Deerwood.

Burglary in the 1000 block of Oak Street.

Residential burglary in the 900 block of N. Walnut Street.

Retail theft at Circle K, 121 S. Gilbert St.

Residential burglary in the unit block of South Collett Street.

Residential burglary and theft in the unit block of Delaware Street.

Criminal damage to vehicle at The Pub, 12 E. North St.


Vermilion County


Retail theft at Oasis Adult store, 504 N. Oakwood, Oakwood.

Burglary to auto in the 400 block of Virginia, Westville.

Burglary to garage in the 200 block of Wabash, Catlin.


Deceptive practice in the 19000 block of Mill Road, Georgetown.

Accidents involving tickets or injuries include:

Thursday, 12:55 p.m. – At Hazel and Williams streets, involving Linda K. Ellmore, 76, of the 100 block of Orchard Street, Danville, and Edward E. Buford, 58, of Danville. Ellmore was cited for failure to yield.

Firefighters responded to the following calls:

Thursday, 3:30-4:01 p.m. — A carbon monoxide call at 838 John St.

Thursday, 3:13-4:25 p.m. — An oil spill at 445 N. Vermilion St.

Thursday, 8:15-8:30 p.m. — A gas leak at 607 N. Jackson St.

Thursday, 8:42-9:26 p.m. — A car fire at 1000 N. Bowman Ave.

Friday, 1:35-1:41 a.m. — A medical call in the 300 block of North Washington Street.

Friday, 1:37-1:59 a.m. — False alarm at 361 Lynch Drive.

    Hank Hornbeck, superintendent of Hoopeston Area schools, informed board members Thursday that staff health insurance rates would increase 5.99 percent from the previous year. Health insurance would remain with Health Alliance.
