Great American Clean Up nears

DANVILLE — Keep Vermilion County Beautiful invites everybody to participate in the Great American Clean Up events from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.This year’s activities will include planting the downtown Danville area and planting and clean-up work in the Douglas Discovery Garden. Volunteers should sign in at either the Danville Public Library to participate downtown or directly at Douglas Discovery Garden for that location.

People should bring gloves, garden stools or kneeling mats and hand tools if they have them. Lunch will be provided. Volunteers can stay however long they like. Those who would like to participate by picking up litter are also encouraged to attend.

• The Lincoln Park clean-up will coincide with the Great American Clean Up at 9 a.m. Saturday. Participants can meet at the north entrance. Picks and bags will be provided.

Afterward, those in attendance are invited to help downtown with various plantings. To help downtown, residents must still sign up at the library and take garden gloves and planting tools.
