Danville

Sunday:

Possession of cannabis in the 1600 block of East Fairchild Street.

Monday:

Burglary in the 700 block of West Seminary Street.

Disorderly conduct at North Vermilion and Williams streets.

Property damage in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street.

Tuesday:

Burglary in the 500 block of Commercial Street.

A man arrested for retail theft at Family Dollar, 1228 E. Main St.

A man arrested for burglary in the 500 block of Harmon Street.

Burglary at Walmart Supercenter, 4101 N. Vermilion St.

Robbery in the 1200 block of Garden Drive.

Identity theft in the first block of Tennessee Avenue.

Wednesday:

Burglary in the first block of Collett Street.

Theft at Walgreens, 400 W. Fairchild St.

Vermilion County

Tuesday:

A woman arrested for domestic battery along Grape Creek Road.

Theft in the first block of DeQuimpal Street, Belgium.

A man arrested for theft in the 300 block of North Webster Street, Catlin.

Burglary in the 16200 block of West Newell Road.

Identity theft in the 3700 block of Pershing Road.

Theft in the 200 block of North State Street, Ridge Farm.

Wednesday:

Domestic dispute in the 24500 block of Oakridge Court.

Accidents involving tickets or injuries include:

June 19, 1:51 p.m. At North Vermilion and Columbus streets involving Phillip Morris, 37, of Hoopeston, and Troy Mitchell, 46, of Bismarck. Morris was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was taken to Presence United Samaritans Medical Center for treatment.

June 19, 2:15 p.m. In the 100 block of North Paris Street, Catlin, involving Vickie Allison, 44, of the 2800 block of Perrysville Road, and Amber Beasley, 22, of Oakwood. Beasley was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Firefighters responded to the following calls:

Tuesday, 4:57-5:09 p.m. An illegal burning at 124 Pennsylvania Ave.

Tuesday, 7:04-7:07 p.m. A private alarm at 220 Edwards St.

Tuesday, 7:08-7:15 p.m. A private alarm at the Public Safety Building, 2 E. South St.

Tuesday, 7:43-8:10 p.m. A power line down at 418 Swisher St.

Wednesday, 12:06-12:52 a.m. A house struck by lightening at 102 Lakeside Drive.

Wednesday, 3:48-3:59 a.m. A medical call in the 100 block of North California Avenue.

  • Police investigate shooting report

    DANVILLE — City police investigated reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of Moore Street about 6:30 p.m.

    Preliminary reports had as many as three people with gunshot wounds. Ambulances were called to assist two of the people with wounds to the leg and one with a chest wound.

    The investigation continued Friday evening.

  • Hoopeston Area school staff to see insurance rates increase

    Hank Hornbeck, superintendent of Hoopeston Area schools, informed board members Thursday that staff health insurance rates would increase 5.99 percent from the previous year. Health insurance would remain with Health Alliance.
