---- — DANVILLE — The third drowning situation in less than a month ended on a positive note during the weekend.
City police and emergency personnel were called to the Quality Inn Motel at 383 Lynch Road, just before 10 a.m. Sunday to a report of a drowning.
Danville Director of Public Safety Larry Thomason said Monday the call was for a possible drowning with an indication that the subject — a 5-year-old child — was not breathing. The child was with guests staying at the motel.
According to Thomason, a person had stepped in and helped to revive the child by the time officers and emergency personnel arrived on the scene. As a result, the child was throwing up water.
No names of peopled involved in the situation were available, according to Thomason. He indicated the child was reportedly doing well when he was taken from the scene by ambulance.
Two Danville children — Brysom Dillon, 3, and Survella Chapman, 11 — died following back-to-back drowning incidents in late July. Dillon was discovered at the bottom of the family pool around 7:30 p.m. July 22 along Hampton Road while Chapman was pulled from the pool around 12:30 p.m. July 23 at the Women’s Shelter, 201 N. Hazel St.
