Golden K sponsors stew

DANVILLE — The Golden K Kiwanis Club will sponsor its annual Election Day Mulligan Stew luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 9 in the community room/gymnasium of First Presbyterian Church, 100 N. Franklin St. Price: $6.

The meal will include stew, biscuits from Burger King, homemade desserts and drinks.

Deliveries will be available for election officials in Danville. Call Vera Weaver at 427-2560 for deliveries to polling places.

Comrie to be sworn in

The public is invited as Christopher Comrie gets sworn in as a probationary police officer at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the lower city hall council chambers.

Veterans exhibit to open

The Danville Art League and the Recreation Therapy Service at the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System will host the “Veterans Experience 2013” art exhibit.

The exhibit will be on display starting Tuesday through April 27 at the Danville Art League, 320 N. Franklin. Hours for community viewing will be 6-9 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday-Saturday.

The artwork has been completed by veterans receiving services from the VA in Danville as well as VA outpatient clinics in Decatur, Mattoon, Springfield and Peoria and West Lafayette, Ind.

Live art demo nears

The Danville Art League and others are sponsoring a live demonstration of watercolor painting and calligraphy by Jiang Rizeng. The demo will take place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in rooms 109 and 110 at the Danville Area Community College Bremer Conference Center.

The event is free and open to the public. The live demonstration is a presentation demonstrating techniques used in traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy. Rizeng will talk and paint in real time for the audience.
