---- — DANVILLE — For the 18th year, members of the Danville Garden Club will begin their search for the city’s most beautiful yards.
Make It Bloom! is open to city residents who live south of Newell Road, west of the Lynch Road-Voorhees Street-Bowman Avenue arc, north of Interstate 74 and the city’s southern boundary and east of Vance Lane-Withner Street.
Anyone can nominate a yard by submitting the coupon. Gardens must be visible from the street. Judges will put emphasis on the overall effort out into the garden and the effect the garden has on the overall beautification of the city.
Nominations are due by June 21, with preliminary judging scheduled for June 30-July 7, advanced judging July 14-19 and final judging July 23-28.
An awards ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Aug. 9 at CrossRoads Christian Church, 3613 N. Vermilion St.
More than 80 sponsors have donated prizes for the contest. The prizes will be awarded each of three categories: I Did IT My Way, individual residences; Business is Blooming, open to businesses or organizations that exhibit floral plantings visible from the street; and Blocks of Blooms, which is open to three or more yards on either side of the street.
