DANVILLE – The Boys & Girls Club of Danville is again partnering with Comcast for Comcast Cares Day. Volunteers are being sought to “Make Change Happen” starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m.
On Comcast Cares Day, Comcast employees, their families and friends will work alongside the Boys & Girls Club on a painting and flooring project at the club, 850 N. Griffin St. Comcast Cares Day is sponsored nationwide and locally by Comcast. About 100 volunteers last year helped with club improvements.
This year the work will involve some painting, carpet work, landscaping and other odds and ends, according to club executive director Rob Gifford.
Comcast will donate a set amount for each person who shows up on Saturday to the club and volunteers his or her time to help with the labor for the projects. The money donated is used to pay for the materials to complete the projects.
Signup can be completed at http://www.comcastinthecommunity.com, or at the club starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
The day will end around 1 p.m. Volunteers will get a free T-shirt, and pizza and pop for lunch. All ages are welcome. Any questions by volunteers can be directed to Gifford at the club at 446-4315.
The club provides services to youth ages 6-18 through its after-school and summer programs. Its mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.
Every year on Comcast Cares Day, tens of thousands of Comcast employees, their families and friends make a positive impact in neighborhoods across the country. Comcast Cares Day is just one of the many ways Comcast helps power dreams in local communities – and it is part of Comcast’s year-round commitment to making a difference.
