HOMER — Two Indiana residents died in an Easter holiday collision just north of Homer on Sunday.
Illinois State Police handled the two-car crash report at 12:49 p.m. Sunday on Illinois Route 49 just south of Homer Lake Road, and just north of the village of Homer.
According to accident reports, two passengers in a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee — 62-year-old Dorothy Doxtator and 33-year-old Scott Doxtator, both of Indianapolis — died as a result of the collision. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep, Otis Doxtator, 65, of Indianapolis, was injured in the crash and taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana for treatment.
State police indicated the Doxtator vehicle collided with a 2010 Mercedes-Benz driven by Xiang Cheng, 19, of Champaign. No other details were released Monday regarding the collision, which shut down Illinois Route 49 for several hours.
Cheng and a passenger, Yuhan Zhang, 22, of Urbana, were taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana for treatment.
Cheng was issued a citation for improper lane usage.
