Festival tickets on sale

Special event tickets for the Presence Foundation’s annual Festival of Trees go on sale at 10 a.m. today at the David S. Palmer Arena. Tickets may be purchased in person at the box office, online at or by calling (877) 772-5425.  Ticket prices vary per event.

Returning special events include: the Polar Express, the Children’s Holiday Breakfast, the Ladies’ Luncheon, the Heroes Lunch, the Crystal Ball, the Princess Tea Party and Silver Bells Bingo. New events will be Family Night Bingo and Festival After Hours, which marks the return of an adults-only evening event with food, drink and music.

Legion to serve fish

American Legion Post 210 will host its “Big Fish & All the Trimmings” from 5-8 p.m. today at the post. The menu features tilapia, catfish, frog legs, plus other menu items. Carry-outs will be available.

Grotto meal today

The Gao Grotto will host “Grilling on the Patio” from 5:30-7:30 p.m. today. Menu includes: hamburgers, tenderloin sandwiches or breaded chicken strips with sides: $6. 

Fish, chicken on menu

The Knights of Columbus will serve beer-battered fish and chicken strips from 5:30-7:30 p.m. today. Meals include sides. Price: $6 for adults, $4 for children. Following dinner “Wop n Nan” Karaoke will be in the bar from 7-11:30 p.m.

Church to sell meals

Word of Life Mt. Zion Ministries will sell dinners starting at 11 a.m. today at the church, 1535 E. Fairchild St. Dinners include: catfish fillets for $10, chicken wings for $8 and pulled pork sandwiches for $6.

Band competition Saturday

The Danville High School Instrumental Music Boosters are hosting the 40th annual Danville Viking Invitational Marching Band Competition Saturday. The first band performs at 4 p.m., and awards are at 8:15 p.m.

The Band of Vikings will perform at 8 p.m.  Tickets: $3 for children, students and seniors; $7 for adults. Longtime Danville band director Jon Dugle will be recognized for his contributions to the music heritage at DHS.
