Jaycees plan adult Easter egg hunt

DANVILLE — A new kind of Easter egg hunt is coming to the area this year, but it’s for adults only.

Instead of having a children’s Easter Egg hunt this year, the Danville Jaycees plan a Grown-up Easter Egg Hunt at Turtle Run for March 29. The hunt will be at Snapper’s Bar and Grill at Turtle Run Golf and Banquet Center at 332 E. Liberty Lane.

The event starts at 6 p.m. with registration and entertainment featuring Andy Moreillon playing until 8. The egg hunt will start at 8 p.m. The band 90’s Daughter also will play after the egg hunt.

Event organizer and Jaycees member Derek Sanders said the egg hunt will be outside, weather permitting.

If weather prevents the event from being outside, the egg hunt will occur in the patio area. Attendees are asked to bring a flashlight.

Some eggs will be filled with candy and others will be filled with prizes, including gift certificates.

Sanders said prizes will include a television, certificates for pizzas and other items and a ticket to Summer Camp Music Festival valued at more than $150.

The cost to participate is $5 a person. Only those age 21 and older will be allowed to participate.

Sanders said the idea for the adult egg hunt came from him attending another one out of town.

“It was not the way (for the event) to be done,” he said of the event.

He then decided to try a better-run event in Danville.

All of the proceeds will go back to the Danville Jaycees.

Sanders said business sponsorship support has been great for this first-time event. More sponsors and donations are appreciated. He hopes to make it an annual event.

The Danville Jaycees is a leadership training and community service organization.

Recent Jaycees projects have included building neighborhood playgrounds, collecting items for care packages to send to servicemen and women and providing families in the area with donated Christmas gifts.
