Early fire damages vacant home

DANVILLE — Fire personnel responded to a blaze at a vacant home Saturday morning.

The fire was reported just before 7 a.m. Saturday at 102 Delaware Ave.

Assistant Chief Duane Hall said firefighters arriving on the scene spotted smoke coming from the eaves of the single-story home.

Once inside, Hall said flames were spotted in the living room area of the home.

The fire was under control within minutes, he said. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

No one was in the building at the time of the fire, he said, although utilities were still hooked up.

Damages are estimated at $20,000.
