The Illiana Genealogical & Historical Society will present An Appalachian Evening at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The evening will include food, artifacts and a glimpse of life as it was in the ’40s and ’50s in Appalachia.
IGHS member Janive Underwood will be the speaker. She was born and raised in Appalachia from 1939 to 1959 and has published a book based on her research.
The presentation/dinner will take place in the Opal Johnson room at the IGHS Library, 215 W. North St. Menu includes: pork with gravy, pinto beans, corn bread and more. Cost: $12.50.
