URBANA — A Vermilion County woman died Wednesday following a traffic accident in Iroquois County.
Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup identified the accident victim as 29-year-old Sarah A. Heffelfinger-Taylor of Potomac.
Heffelfinger-Taylor was taken to the emergency department of Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana following the accident in Iroquois County. Northrup indicated she was pronounced dead at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday.
She died as a result of multiple traumatic injuries sustained in the crash, according to Northrup.
Heffelfinger-Taylor was the sole driver in the crash. An employee at the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Department, contacted on Thursday, said no information was being released regarding the crash and the accident report was not complete.
According to the Iroquois County Times-Republic, the accident took place around noon Wednesday in Prairie Green Township just northeast of Hoopeston.
Heffelfinger-Taylor, according to the Times-Republic, which cited police reports, was westbound on County Road 500N when her vehicle left the roadway.
The vehicle hit a railroad embankment and went airborne as a result. Heffelfinger-Taylor was airlifted from the scene.
