DANVILLE — Danville Area Community College Board of Trustees Chair David Harby earned his fourth Trustee Education Award from the Illinois Community College Trustees Association.
The award was earned through participation in 60 or more educational seminars offered by the trustees association. The ICCTA provides legislative advocacy and educational opportunities for college boards. The organization was founded in 1970.
Harby is a graduate of DACC and Illinois State University. He was elected to the DACC Board of Trustees in 1999. In May 2013, he was unanimously selected by his peers as board chair; he had been vice chair since 2005.
During his 15 years of board service to DACC, Harby has served ICCTA, as well. He was an ICCTA alternate representative from 2003-2007, and has served on both the Public Relations Committee and on the Governmental Relations Committee. He was selected as chair of the ICCTA East Central Region in 2008-2009. In 2009, he was elected to the office of vice chair of the ICCTA. He served as president of the ICCTA from July 2010 through June 2011.
In 2012, Harby was recognized for his service to DACC, the statewide community college system and the national community college movement with both the ICCTA Trustee Achievement Award and the Central Regional Trustee Leadership Award from the Association of Community College Trustees.
