The city of Hoopeston will have fireworks starting at dusk Thursday at the youth soccer field, located on Sixth Avenue south of Route 9.



The 40 & 8 American Legion Post 210 breakfast is scheduled for 8-11 a.m. Friday at the post, 201 Prospect Place. The breakfast will feature all-you-can-eat biscuits and gravy and/or pancakes and sausage. Donation: $6. All proceeds go toward nurses training.


The city of Georgetown will host a fireworks display at dusk Friday at the Georgetown Fairgrounds. Rain date is Sunday, July 6.


The Montezuma Reserve Township Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor the Montezuma Independence Day Celebration on Friday.

The first annual water ball tournament will begin at 1 p.m. EDT, with the championship round after the opening ceremonies.

Baby registration will take place from 4-5 p.m. EDT at Aztec Park New Pavilion.

The parade line-up starts at 5 p.m. EDT at Reeder Park. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. EDT and travel to Aztec Park. An opening ceremony and flag ceremony will immediately follow the parade. Judging and announcement of the baby contest, Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker, Princess and Miss Independence will take place at the New Pavilion in Aztec Park. There will be music and food vendors. The fireworks display starts at dusk.
