An arson fire demolished a vacant home during the weekend.
Firefighters responded around 4 a.m. Sunday to a single-story vacant home at 716 Johnson St.
Assistant Fire Chief Tom Pruitt said the home already was fully involved upon arrival, with the structure beginning to fall in on itself as a result of the blaze.
Pruitt said the home was already on the demolition list for the City of Danville. After that and its vacant status was determined, firefighters let the home burn itself out. He noted there were not any homes located close to the structure.
Pruitt said the fire was intentionally set, with no gas or electrical service hooked up to the structure at the time of the fire. Where the blaze started in the home was not determined.
Danville firefighters were on the scene for almost two hours.
