The Boys & Girls Club of Danville is looking for as many volunteers as possible for a project on Saturday.
The club is partnering with Comcast for Comcast Cares Day at the Boys & Girls Club, 850 N. Griffin St.
From 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, volunteers will be at the club working on a painting and flooring project as well as a few other smaller projects inside and outside.
“We are looking for people to come to the club and volunteer their time helping with these projects. Comcast will donate a certain amount of money per volunteer that can be used for materials for the club as well as donate any leftover funds to us,” said Rob Gifford, executive director of the club.
He said the more volunteers the club has, the more donations the club will receive and the more that can get done to help the club stay a nice place for the youth in the community to come to each day.
The painting projects are mostly inside the building, from the main hallway to the game room, and also the snack room and kitchen area, Gifford said.
There also will be the tearing up of carpeting and hopefully they will put in new carpeting in the Teen Lounge.
There also will be landscaping projects and picking up of trash, in addition to other general cleanup activities.
“If we get more people, we will do some more painting,” Gifford added.
Gifford said Comcast will have employees and their family and friends helping out.
“It’s a positive impact on the community,” he said of the Comcast Cares Day.
Comcast will provide T-shirts and lunch on Saturday.
Volunteers can pre-register at http://www.comcastinthecommuni
ty.com or on Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. at the Boys & Girls Club.
All ages are welcome and there will be many things to do.
Gifford said they hope to see many volunteers at the club this weekend.
Interested volunteers also can contact Gifford at the club at 446-4315 or Art Svymbersky with Comcast at (224) 229-3177.
