DANVILLE — St. James United Methodist Church will host the “Continuing in Faith through Christ” continental prayer breakfast for Black History Month from 9-11 a.m. today at the church, 504 N. Vermilion St.
The speakers will be the Rev. Jimmy Hopper, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, and Debra Cummings, minister at New Jerusalem Church of Jesus Christ.
Then on Sunday, the 25th annual National African American Read-In Day will take place at Laura Lee Fellowship House, 212 E. Williams St. Poetry, short skits, exhibits and soul food will be featured from 4-5:30 p.m. at the free cultural event which celebrates African American literature.
