In other council action, trustees learned there were problems plowing the sidewalks along State Street after the recent snowstorm. Mayor Mike Weese said the village uses a small tractor with a blade to plow the sidewalks but due to the amount of snow and the subzero temperatures, there were problems with the snow removal. Weese suggested either equipping the small tractor with a V-blade or possibly a snow blower might be a better way to remove the snow.
Also, trustee Darin Troglia spoke out against the policy of allowing village employees drive village trucks home. Weese said it is usually up to each administration to determine the policy. He allows the gas and water employee who is on call to drive a vehicle home so the employee can respond to an emergency quicker. He said the employees are covered under the village insurance as long as it is work-related.
Village council members will meet next at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 in the municipal building.
