City council members heard from NewWave Communications representative Danny Rudd on Monday about the upgrade NewWave plans next year.
Rudd said the cable upgrade is expected to be completed by the end of the second quarter in 2013. NewWave Communications will be taking its fiber optic cable from Westville, Ill., to Georgetown, Ill., over to Cayuga, Ind., then up Indiana Road 63 to Covington and over to Veedersburg, Ind.
Rudd explained the upgrade will bring high-speed cable Internet, phone, and additional high definition channels. NewWave does not have a finalized new channel line up. Rudd said customers will receive letters in the coming year discussing the upgrade and new channels.
NewWave’s contractors will work closely with the city’s electric department when they begin installing the new fiber optic cable.
