Tobacco store robbed early Monday

---- — DANVILLE — Danville police are looking for two men in connection with the robbery of a local business late Monday morning.

Officers responded around 11:20 a.m. Monday to Smoke House Discount Tobacco, 501 N. Vermilion St., to the report of a robbery there.

According to police, two black males entered the business and one of the men began speaking with the employee on duty. The second suspect then struck the employee from behind with what is believed to be a small-caliber rifle.

The suspects, police indicated, took the employee to the checkout and demanded money. The two men fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. The employee suffered minor injuries as a result of the blow to the head.

The suspects were described as standing between 5 feet 9 and 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing between 140 and 160 pounds. Both are believed to be between 18 and 20 years old.
