Police make arrests in shooting, armed robbery

DANVILLE — The Danville Police Department has made arrests in a Saturday shooting and a Friday armed robbery.

But officers still are looking for one more individual involved in the armed robbery.

Police received a phone call at about 12:20 p.m. Saturday of a subject shot in the 100 block of West Fairchild Street, at Franklin Street.

No one was there when police arrived.

The victim later called police, and a short time later Devin T. Hightower, 22, of the 900 block of Georgian Drive, was arrested.

According to Danville Police Deputy Director Doug Miller, an altercation apparently occurred between Hightower and another individual in that area. Hightower allegedly shot the victim.

Miller declined to name the victim.

The victim apparently didn’t require medical attention.

In a separate incident on Friday, an armed robbery occurred at 12:50 p.m. at a residence in the unit block of Bremer Avenue.

Two subjects entered the victim’s residence and allegedly battered and robbed the victim, Miller said.

One alleged subject, Martwane A. Gary, is in custody. Bond had yet to be set.

Police are still looking for the other robbery suspect.

Miller couldn’t provide any other information due to the ongoing investigation.
