---- — KANKAKEE — The former fire chief of a northern Illinois community faces up to seven years in prison after he pleaded guilty to stealing $55,000.
The (Kankakee) Daily Journal reports 56-year-old Jeff Brosseau apologized during a court appearance Thursday.
The veteran volunteer firefighter in Limestone was treasurer of the Kankakee Valley Firemen’s Association. He resigned from his post in the Kankakee County community in 2010.
He said he spent the money on bills and has since repaid $19,000.
Brosseau is set to be sentenced Oct. 11.
