DANVILLE — Danville police have arrested four young people in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins early Friday.
About 12:45 a.m. Friday, police received a report of young people attempting to break into cars in the 1900 block of North Franklin Street. Officers who responded caught three juveniles in the 1600 block of North Franklin and took a 17-year-old into custody a short time later, police spokesman Doug Miller said.
Police determined they were responsible for four to five break-ins, but might have been involved in several more.
Four or five reports were made to the police department Friday, Miller said, but 10-12 other vehicles may have been burglarized in the area of Dawn, Jackson, Cedar, East Road, Cedarwood, Franklin and Winter.
Police have recovered several items whose owners have not been identified.
Miller urges people whose cars have been broken into to call the Crime Stoppers line at 446-TIPS or call the department’s criminal investigation division at 431-2245. Owners also are being sought to identify their property.
The youth face charges of burglary to auto and possession of stolen property.
