Downtown event shows growth

Barbecue, music on schedule

(Continued)

Soda tasting participants will have the option of buying the shot glass V.I.P. package, or tickets that can be redeemed for any flavor the taster wishes to sample.

Tickets will be sold for $3 for six tastings or $6 for 12 tastings.

Sodas offered in the tasting will be available for sale in the café of the Fischer Theatre for $2 a bottle and can be paid for with cash.

Also, the rare, no longer produced original recipe of Dr. Pepper from Dublin, Texas, also will be available for sale for $4 a bottle. Some cardboard six-pack carriers with the Dublin Dr Pepper logo are still available for free with a purchase of six bottles.

Customized six packs of mixed varieties may be purchased in the café as well. Popcorn will be available for $1 a bag.

All proceeds from this event, including sales from the gift shop and café, as well as donations to the Arts and Entertainment Museum, benefit the Fischer Theatre.

In addition, Miss Illinois International 2013 Season Winesburg will attend the Taste of Downtown Danville with two personal appearances scheduled. Winesburg will be signing autographs at Vendor Square, located in Palace Park next to the Fischer, from 5-6 p.m. Saturday and from 1-2 p.m. Sunday. Having held numerous titles and awards within the International, Miss America, and Miss USA systems, Winesburg was crowned Miss Illinois International on March 3, in Gurnee.

After being crowned Miss Northern Illinois 2009, in the Miss America system, Winesburg took a year off work and school to travel the state volunteering full time; she traveled more than 30,000 miles making more than 200 appearances and raising $197,000-plus for various charities.
