An insulator failure left 7,600 customers in the dark for an hour Friday morning in an area stretching from Catlin to Philo.
Leigh Morris, a spokesman for Ameren Illinois, said the insulator failure was caused by lightning damage from a previous storm.
“It finally failed today,” Morris said late Friday morning. “It caused a wire to break, so we had to switch service around.”
The power went out around 5:50 a.m., but Morris said power was restored by 6:49 a.m. Friday.
