DANVILLE — Residents escaped from an early morning fire on the east side of Danville. City firefighters responded to the house fire reported just before 6 a.m. Monday at 216 S. Virginia Ave.
Capt. Todd Spicer said residents in the home were awakened by the fire and able to make it out of the one-story structure unharmed.
Danville firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy flames from the blaze in the front of the home, according to Spicer.
Additional crews were called in to help fight the flames. No injuries were reported.
Spicer said the fire remains under investigation, with no cause determined as of Monday afternoon.
Extensive damage was reported as a result of the fire, with preliminary estimates putting the damage as around $25,000.
