Big Chocolate Obsession in its third year

DANVILLE — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Vermilion County announces its third annual Big Chocolate Obsession. The event will be Dec. 5 at Turtle Run Banquet Center.

This black-and-white themed event will include sweet treats and great eats from more than 15 local bakers, chefs and cooks. It is not just for chocolate lovers. There will be barbecue, salads and other items to sample.

The event starts at 6 p.m. and costs $15 per person or a table of eight for $120. There will be a 50/50 drawing, a cash bar and five one-of-a-kind raffle baskets.

The 50/50 raffle tickets are $10 for an arms-length and $15 for a wing-span.

Raffle baskets include: “The Designer in You” starting with a Kate Spade bag, Bare Escentuals products, designer cologne, OPI nail polish and much more; “Holiday Relaxation” with Danville Symphony Orchestra tickets, and a selection of wine and cheese; “Vera Bradley Comes to Town” with six Vera Bradley items from large to small; “Tastefully Simple” with a selection of Tastefully Simple items and a $25 County Market gift card; and “All Things Christmas” with Christmas lights, cards, stationery, gift wrap and bags, hand-designed plates and much more.

Each basket is valued at more than $300. Tickets for the raffle baskets are $5 each and only 91 will be sold for each basket, so get tickets early.

The event also features the smooth, jazz sounds of Doc Ashton and the Root Canals.

Big Brothers Big Sisters offices are at 100 N. Franklin St. in the upstairs of the First Presbyterian Church.

Bakers or chefs who want to show off their talents may call BBBS. Booths are available for a small fee.
